A word from
Smileworx has a different approach to treatment, and this is something we’re particularly proud of.
With the benefit of decades of experience, and thousands of hours of training, we approach each patient as an individual and design a completely tailored solution to get the optimum result.
We consider far more than how to straighten your teeth; weighing up how any orthodontic treatment may affect the balance of the whole facial structure.
A customised and effective treatment approach
Orthodontic treatments come in all shapes and sizes. Some are more severe than others, and they can come at any age! Here are some of the conditions you or your child might be experiencing. The good news, is that there are a range of treatments available for every person : )
Habits
We have developed a unique treatment approach to identify and address habits such as tongue thrust before they develop into significant problems requiring more complex treatment. For a tongue thrust, we use a device that prevents the tongue from coming forwards, keeping it in the correct position in the roof of the mouth. Over time it can widen the roof of the mouth and prevent many other orthodontic problems, like an openbit, from developing.
Braces
Braces straighten teeth by applying steady pressure to your teeth over a period of time. Metal braces have brackets and wires, and may also have rubber bands, all working together to keep pressure on the teeth and move them into the correct position. Today, there are a wide variety of braces available, including clear aligners, traditional metal braces and ceramic braces which have a clear bracket. When the braces come off you may have to wear a retainer for a period of time, which is like a thin mouthguard fitted over your teeth to help them settle in their new positions and prevents them from moving back to their old positions.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces work broadly the same as metal braces, but they are made of clear, or tooth-coloured ceramic brackets and may also use tooth-coloured wire, making them less obvious than metal braces. Your orthodontist will let you know if you’re a good candidate for these braces after they examine your teeth.
Invisalign
Invisalign is an orthodontic appliance that uses a series of removable and comfortable aligners that are, as the name suggests, near-invisible! To ensure the aligners fit seamlessly into your existing smile, scans are taken of the teeth and the impressions sent to the Invisalign Headquarters. The Invisalign professionals then formulate a plan for creating the perfect smile for you or your child. In as little as two weeks, the first set of aligners arrive, and the journey can begin! As the teeth move, you will receive new aligners that will build on the work of the previous set gradually pushing the teeth in to the right position; a straight and beautiful smile. Generally, the treatment lasts between 9 to 15 months, but this can vary from case to case.
Simpli5
Simpli5 clear aligners have become a popular alternative to traditional orthodontic appliances, like metal braces, giving patients the beautiful smiles they’ve always wanted!
WHAT ARE SIMPLI5 ALIGNERS?
Simpli5 is a system of aligners designed to correct minor imperfections in the alignment of your teeth within approximately five to six months. Each set of aligners is customised to your teeth to correct minor problems and to realign teeth that have already received orthodontic treatment.
